DC DPR Senior City Tour: Fort Stanton Recreation Center

The next-to-last stop on the Senior City Tour was the Fort Stanton Recreation Center. It is a hidden gem located “back-in-the-cut” at 1812 Erie St., SE, Washington, DC 20020. The seniors here have a very strong sense of community spirit! They all wore matching t-shirts to show their solidarity. The facility boasts an outdoor pool, large gymnasium, “fort” themed playground and proximity to the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Museum (which happens to be right next-door).

It was a warm day with plenty of sunshine. All of the participating vendors had tables lined up side-by-side at the entrance of the building. Throughout the event, folks were line dancing, listening to a combination of old school R & B and hip hop while joyfully playing From The Scroll games! Marion Speight and Mike Williams once again hosted this gala celebration. Kyla Hutchison from Zealous Inc. was situated at the front door directing guests and visitors to join in the outdoor activities or venture indoors to receive free legal advice from the Law Office of Vicky A. Wright-Smith.

Everyone was grooving and no one wanted the party to end!
